South Peace Parish Talent Auction

This year's talent auction is taking place on Friday, November 20th. We will begin to gather at 6:00pm for dinner and the silent auction will begin at 6:30.
This is always a fun evening with lots of good natured fights for the wonderful talents offered.
There is sure to be lots of baking ~ like Bobbie's deep dish pie and Jan's butter tarts. Sewn items, books, treasures...even wine and an already laden Christmas Tree!
The live auction is always fun ~ auctioning off Rupert and Brent ~ not to be missed!!
Too many great things to mention, you have to come and check it out for yourself.
And don't forget to let Fr. Greg know soon what you are bringing to put into the auction so he can be well prepared for Friday night!
If you need more info, please give him a call ~ 250-782-1015.

Stew and Bannock

The Parish of the South Peace celebrated the work of the Council of the North on Sunday, September 27 by partaking of a Stew and Bannock Luncheon following the 11am morning joint worship service at St. Mark's Dawson Creek. Christ Church Pouce Coupe joined us in worship so to have the opportunity to also feast on stew. Visitors hearing of the lunch offering also dropped by to join us. Bison stew, or beef stew for those who like it a little less wild, were steaming and ready when the final amen was heard. Fresh bannock, biscuits and bread were served alongside for dipping in the stew - so as not to miss a delicious drop!

Thanks to all the cooks for the delicious stews and for the assorted accompaniments. We raised $251 for Council of the North; Thanks be to God!

Serving up the steaming stews.

Line up!!

Enjoying the feast.

A Successful Culinary Journey

St Mark's Centre became Greece on October 3rd to host 'The Culinary Journeys of St Paul'. Complete with towering pillars, artwork and ancient pottery it felt like a true Grecian gathering.
A delicious feast created by Anne and Jacquie and cooked up with the assistance of a number of volunteers was something to see and taste! Kabobs, roasted veggies, pilaf, fresh hummus and pita bread, wine and of course...mmm...Baklava!
St Paul himself, in the form of Archdeacon Greg Gilson entertained the sold out crowd with stories of St Paul journeys and the origin of the ingredients in the food prepared for the feast.
Belly dancers invited specially for the feast also entertained the crowd and enticed some to join in ... as evidence are the attached pictures!!!

Thanks to all who worked so hard to make this event such a success for the Parish of the South Peace!

Our Sunday School leader Valerie!

The crowd enjoys the dance entertainment.

Sunday School Picnic 2009

Water, water everywhere and n'er a drop to drink!!

Following morning worship at Christ Church, the South Peace Parish children, youth and adults alike all enjoyed a beautiful sunny day with a BBQ at the Ashwell residence (thank you Ashwells!). Water before lunch in the form of swimming was followed not long after lunch was finished with a water fight. Even Pat wanted in on the action and got back at one or two who doused her!!

Order of St. Mark's

Chris Broad and Pat McLeod have faithfully served St. Mark's Church and the needs of the wider community for many years. On Anniversary Sunday, celebrated on June 21 with Bishop Anderson in attendance, they were presented with the first Order of St. Mark.
The mounted and framed medallion will be presented annually to those whose walk and act as Jesus in their outreach and faithful service to the church and those in need.

Sans les Enfants Lamb on a Spit

The South Peace parish adult's group 'Sans les Enfants' gathered at the home of Kathleen and Bevin King in Pouce Coupe the end of June for their year end finale! Brad Manson took over the spit and grilled up a delectible lamb while everyone brought the fixings.
Bishop William was special guest for the evening and joined us for worship the next morning to celebrate St. Mark's anniversary.
