A Busy Weekend

The Parish of the South Peace had a very busy weekend over November 26 - 28.

First was Friday, with the latest of the Poor Boy Luncheons with a delicious Chili Lunch.

Saturday afternoon was our Christ Church Bazaar and Tea at the Pouce Coupe Legion. The community comes from far and wide to seek the baking, preserves, knitwear and gifts then stays to enjoy fresh, hot scones and tea. Thank you to all our volunteers who worked so hard to bake and work the Bazaar. Thank you to our knitting friends in the south who send us their knit goodies every year.

Saturday night was the grand Parish Talent Auction at St. Mark's. Beginning with a pot luck dinner...for we all know that Anglican's do food so well...the bidding got under way quickly on all the goods displayed. From jewellry to baked goods, puzzels to books and gift baskets; there was so much to choose from! We took a short break before the fun really got under way and everyone filed into the church to sing Silent Night for the Armed Forces Chaplancy. (We raised an additional $125.00 during our singing for that good cause too!!)
This year featured a very talented live auctioneer, Ted Pilozow (also known as the husband of the Presbyterian Pastor Barbara!) and everyone loved him. We auctioned off a set of Rage tickets, dinners, very nice painted milk cans and even people as labourers and A PUPPY! Puppy went to a nice new home where he will be well loved.

Sunday evening brought the weekend to a close with the Ecumenical Advent Lessons and Carols service at Notre Dame Catholic Church. The Ecumenical Choir sounded as lovely as ever and had more than 30 members this year!!! The service was well attended...it's getting bigger every year. Our town Ministerial representatives took turns in readings and prayers and final blessings. The evening's offering goes to the local food banks; Salvation Army and the Ecumenical Food Bank which is hosted at St. Mark's Church.

Thank you one and all for all your hard work this weekend; we couldn't do it with out you!

Lots of new pictures are on our web album at http://picasaweb.google.com/stmarksanglican
